Scope of Work
MLG was called out reactively to leaks coming through the metal gutters into a live trading Tesco store. The job then ran through every stage from emergency containment to permanent installation, and grew into a 600 linear metre project.

Challenges & Constraints
Leaks into a store
MLG was called out reactively to leaks coming through the metal gutters into a Tesco store that was open and trading.
Failing along the length
The real problem was not the leaks but the gutter runs: they were failing along their whole length, so patching would have meant an endless cycle of call-outs.
No closure available
The store stayed open, kept taking deliveries, and could not have water coming through the ceiling with customers underneath.

On attendance the leaks were patched to stop immediate water ingress, and leak diverters installed to keep the store dry and trading.
Containment bought time
With the store dry, the permanent answer could be worked out properly rather than the client being committed to a rushed repair.
Manufacturer specified it
MLG advised that the gutters needed permanent works and brought Westwood in to design the system, rather than specifying it in-house.
Lined in situ
The specified works were quoted, approved and installed as 600 linear metres of Westwood metal gutter lining, applied in situ so the building was never opened up over a trading store.

Leaks stopped first visit
The water ingress was stopped on the first attendance, before any decision about permanent works had to be made.
A manufacturer-backed specification
The client got a diagnosis and a system designed by the manufacturer, rather than a repair invoice and the same call-out again next winter.

600 linear metres of failing metal gutter were permanently lined to a manufacturer-specified system.
Trade unbroken
The store traded throughout, no closure and no interruption to trade, from the first call-out to the final installation.
Conclusion
This started as a phone call about a leak. Water was coming through the metal gutters into a trading Tesco, and the immediate job was to stop it, which MLG did on the first visit, patching the leaks and fitting diverters so the store stayed dry and open.
The underlying problem was that the gutter runs were failing along their entire length. Rather than sell more patching, MLG advised on permanent works, brought Westwood in to specify the system, quoted it and installed 600 linear metres of lining in situ. Patch, divert, advise, specify, quote, install, one contractor across the whole cycle, and a client who called about a leak and ended up with the defect behind it solved.
