Our story

MLG was established in 1998 and has remained family-run ever since. In 2011, Luke took the helm with just a few men and a single van. Today, we’re a full-service construction and facilities firm spanning London to Exeter and across South Wales, powered by a 76-strong team, including 55 in-house engineers delivering every single day.

Our growth has come the old-fashioned way: quality, consistency, and a strict commitment to safety. Around nine in ten of our jobs come from returning clients, some of whom have relied on us since 2011. Year after year, we are trusted to deliver on critical sites that simply cannot afford downtime.

While our reach and capacity have grown, our standards haven’t changed. Anyone on site has the authority to stop a job, no questions asked, no pushback. Our name goes on every project, every detail, and every van on the road. And when there’s a hole to dig, we all jump in together as one team.

The people behind the work

Most of our leadership team started on the tools, and it shows in how we operate. From directors to site managers, these are the people running MLG every day.

Luke took over the business in 2011 and has run it ever since. He started on the tools as an electrician and still spends plenty of time on site. Hands-on, and he loves solving the problems others can’t.

Sam looks after the money. A career in construction finance, keeping the business on a sound footing and making sure the vision and mission are achieved.

Jake came up through the tools, from night shifts on live stations to running our largest rail projects. He gets stuck into whatever we come up against.

Ian has 15 years in commercial roles across the sector, on everything from data centres to car parks. He handles our pricing, contracts and supply chain, and keeps all three fair, tight and moving.

Dwayne runs our facilities division, the 24/7 helpdesk and the engineers behind 4,600 jobs a year across more than 800 sites. If a building has a problem at 3am, it’s his team that delivers.

Jon joined in 2019, started on the tools, and now runs our rail and small works teams. Most of his work happens around the operational railway, nights, possessions and jobs that can’t wait.

You get one accountable point of contact and a team that tells you what’s happening before you have to ask. We track every job through SimPro and Procore, with client portals for raising and tracking work, and behind the scenes an AI-driven helpdesk and back-office automation mean nothing slips through, every job logged, tracked and covered, with a full audit trail from first call to sign-off.

We invest in our own plant and kit and maintain it ourselves, so we can deliver for you, 46 vans on the road, kept stocked and serviced. Where the job calls for something larger or specialist, supply chain partners support us. We invest in our people the same way: training and tickets paid for at every level, with our senior team in leadership development too.
