Scope of Work
Replacement of the life-expired main entrance door at the Upper Borough Walls building in Bath with a new aluminium automatic door system with keypad access, improving both security and ease of entry for building users.

Challenges & Constraints
An existing arched opening
The arched doorway meant the new unit had to be measured and manufactured to fine tolerances rather than ordered to a standard size.
No remeasure possible
Fabrication lead times were long, so there was no opportunity to remeasure and reorder if the survey was out.
Secure by nightfall
The building fronts a busy high street in Bath and the entrance could not be left open overnight.
Project Execution & Techniques
A single-day sequence
The whole installation was planned as one working day rather than a phased job, with every trade coordinated to that sequence.
Old entrance removed
The life-expired main entrance door and frame were taken out ready for the new screen.
Record screen installed
A Record automatic sliding door and header went in as a 3575 × 2965 aluminium screen with five fixed fields plus a sliding leaf, powder coated RAL 7016 Matt Anthracite Grey and glazed in 10.8mm laminated safety glass.
Access control connected
Euro hook locks keyed alike and 1400mm keypad entry were fitted, with the electrical connections and finishing works completed in the same day.
